Ice Cream Sundae your way!

Ice Cream Sundae

On a recent visit to The Tavern, Cheltenham, we loved their take on a pudding menu. Called Sundae Service Menu  you can choose exactly how you’d like your Ice Cream Sundae. There are eight ice creams, including the usual suspects, Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry, plus Pistachio, Malted Banana, Coffee, Mint Choc Chip and Salted Caramel, eight different toppings, things like Brownie Pieces, Boozy Raisins, Smashed Meringue and six sauces, to choose from. You fill in a form, tear it off and give it to your waiter or waitress, sit back and wait for your Sundae to arrive – Yum!

The mathematicians amongst you can work out how many different combinations that is, we know it’s a lot and plan on working our way through them this Summer!

If you fancy a homemade version have a look at our tried and tested recipes and invent your own. You can’t go wrong with a Vanilla and Salted Caramel base and I love a scoop of Strawberry Ice Cream in a Sundae. Top up with fresh fruit, meringue, biscuit and brownie pieces.

Best beaches in UK

Best beaches in UK

If you are anything like us you must be itching to get some Vitamin Sea and head off to the British seaside.  It’s in our genes, we must try to get to the seaside as often as poss to:-

a) soak up the sunshine (from behind a wind breaker mostly)

b) treat yourself to fish n chips (as well as treating the massive sea gulls which seem to be evolving around our shores, one stole my fish once, I won’t forget!) and…

c) eat copious amounts of ice cream even if technically you are not a kid any more.  It’s just not a British seaside experience unless your feet get burnt on the way to the ice cream van or it doesn’t drip all the way down your arm and you forgot your wet ones.  This is life, embrace it folks.

Anyway, it’s time to plan those mini breaks, those weeks away of heavenly freedom and hit the seaside.  So, you may be interested in LoveIcecreams top 8 list (we love a list) of best places in the UK for an ice cream.  Hold onto your hat, quick lick…it’s dripping down your arm…let’s get on with it.

3 Epic Easter Ice Cream Ideas

easter cookies and vanilla ice cream

easter cookies and vanilla ice cream

This April 16th it’s Easter time again.  Hoorah a time to feast!  Whatever plans you may have, it’s time to start enjoying a spot of warmer weather, picnics and ice creams dripping down your hand from the ice cream man.

If you are at home this Easter, here are some ice cream ideas for you to try…

  1. Vanilla Ice Cream and Mini Egg Cookies.  It wouldn’t be Easter without a bag full of Cadbury’s Mini Eggs to scoff.  Use our Vanilla Ice Cream recipe or buy a good vanilla ice cream from the shops and serve with these Mini Egg Cookies, which are pretty yummy.  Above are some I made earlier…not much left I’m afraid (those naughty chickens!) x

  2. This recipe is more for the grown ups, lovely, dark and very, very chocolately.  Chocolate and Cardomom Ice Cream, I hope you like it as much as we do here at Love Icecreams HQ.

  3. Finally, you could try our Chocolate, Mallow and Fudge recipe.  It’s a lovely chocolate base and into that you add marshmallows, chocolate (leftover eggs if you have any?!) and little bits of fudge chopped up.  It’s indulgent! Be warned!

We hope that will keep your chocolate levels topped up over Easter.  Have a lovely holiday everyone x
