Savisto 1.5 Litre Ice Cream, Sorbet & Frozen Yoghurt Maker
I have had this machine for 4 months now and have been using it every week. At £21.95 it is good value for money. It’s really simple to use, quiet when running and quick to wash up when you’ve finished making your ice cream. The timer and digital display is useful. You know how long your mixture has left to churn and the machine will switch off when your churning time is up, so you don’t have to stand over the machine whilst it is churning but can pop off and get on with other things.
The bowl does need freezing before you can use your machine to make ice cream and the manufacturer’s instructions say allow 8-12 hours for this, so for that reason I keep mine in the freezer and then it is always ready when you want to use it. The bowl is 14cm high and 20cm in diameter so fits in at the bottom my freezer without any problems. Because of needing to freeze the bowl first, you won’t be able to make ice cream the moment it arrives. If you are buying this with the intention of making ice cream with children probably best not to excitedly announce the arrival of your machine with the words ‘Look, now we can make ice cream!’ as I did, because you can’t, not for another 8 -12 hours and you will then have to deal with the disappointment of that! Unpack it, freeze the bowl and then the next day you can get stuck in.
If you are looking for instant results buy some of your favourite yoghurt and churn that for 10 to 15 minutes until firm, then scoop into cones or bowls. Have a look through our recipes, try a few and you’ll be an ice cream making expert in no time!
